Chester County electronics recycling: Two October 10 events

Upper Uwchlan and London Grove have separate collections for township residents, with different hours and charges. Here is what to check before bringing electronics.

Upper Uwchlan and London Grove townships have electronics collection events scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026. Each serves its own township residents. The hours, charges and locations differ, so check the rules for your municipality before loading a television or computer.

Upper Uwchlan: Morning collection with some cash fees

Upper Uwchlan's official calendar lists collection from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Public Works Facility, 132 Oscar Way, Chester Springs, rain or shine. The township event flyer confirms that registration is not required and participation is limited to Upper Uwchlan residents. Commercial entities cannot participate.

Computers, laptops, printers and other household electronics are accepted. Most items are free, with these cash charges per item:

  • CRT or LCD televisions: $40 each.
  • Wooden console or projection televisions: $60 each.
  • Computer monitors: $20 each.
  • Dehumidifiers or air conditioners: $10 each.

The calendar lists an event contact number of (610) 458 2318 for questions about an item.

London Grove: Afternoon collection for township residents

London Grove's recycling notice lists a free collection from 1 to 4 p.m. at SECCRA Community Landfill, 219 Street Road, West Grove. The township stresses that the event ends promptly at 4 p.m.

Accepted electronics include computers, monitors, televisions, printers, stereo equipment, cellphones and DVD players. Businesses, commercial entities, landlords, organizations and people who do not live in London Grove may not participate. The notice also excludes material from residential cleanouts.

Questions go to the township at (610) 345 0100. Its notice says ordinary recycling at SECCRA is available during the year but may carry fees. The free October 10 event should not be read as a promise of free disposal on another day.

Save files and remove personal information first

The Federal Trade Commission's computer disposal guidance recommends backing up files before erasing the computer's storage. Its page links to reset instructions for Windows computers, Chromebooks and Macs. Use the instructions for your device before handing it over.

Upper Uwchlan's calendar says computer hard drive data will be destroyed. It does not describe the method. Residents with questions about that process can use the event contact above.

If replacing a computer leaves you needing temporary access, the library's laptop lending program permits use on library grounds. Our Exton library laptop guide explains eligibility, reservations and saving files.

The October 4 hazardous waste event is different

Chester County's hazardous waste calendar lists a separate collection in Downingtown on Sunday, October 4, with registration required. The authority's 2026 accepted and excluded materials list expressly excludes televisions and electronics. Do not take those items to that collection.

Before leaving for either October 10 event, reopen the relevant township notice to check for any changed instructions. Find more local service reporting in our Chester County coverage.

Update, October 16, 2026: The October 10 electronics events and October 4 hazardous waste collection described here are past.
